Government Seeks Views on Shale Gas Planning Reforms

On 19 July Government launched a consultation on proposed planning reforms for exploratory shale gas development in England.  The main proposal is whether to designate exploratory drilling for shale gas resources should be a new form of "permitted development" - meaning that planning consent would not be required.  The consultation closes on 25 October 2018.
