Government Advice Letter to All Planning Authorities

On 21 December 2017 DCLG published a "Planning Update" letter to all planning authorities.  Included were updates on the budget and planning reform; plan making reform; introduction of a requirement to review Local Development Documents every 5 years; a requirement to update Statements of Community Involvement (Regulations to be made in January 2018); updates to neighbourhood planning processes coming into force on 31 January 2018; neighbourhood planning support programme; Planning Delivery Fund; housing delivery test; enhancing the Community Infrastructure Levy; local plan interventions; update on planning fee increases; permitted development rights; compulsory purchase; brownfield land registers and permission in principle; planning statistics; unauthorised development and encampments; support for local mineral authorities dealing with shale applications; and, planning treatment of electricity storage facilities (such as battery storage systems).
