The long awaited Judicial Review of the Highways England scheme, announced in July 2016, for a 3,600 capacity lorry park on both the northern and southern sides of the M20 just to the west of junction 11, due to be heard in December 2017, was cancelled as Highways England and Government decided not to defend the judicial review. In effect this means that the scheme has been scrapped.
At the same time Government announced, on 16 November 2017, that it would take a fresh look at options for holding large numbers of lorries at a site near the M20 and an interim solution that would hold freight traffic on the M20 while keeping the M20 motorway open in both directions for other vehicles.
